YS Tech, and Geek Café Media, is looking for volunteer writers! (Global)
As you know, we’re a developing English based technology blog/publication based in Canada and Malaysia, and expanding into the US as well as Europe, and the rest of Asia. With our expansion, we’re looking for volunteers to help us as we grow our site, and launch our upcoming full publication in the future.
Currently, we work on a volunteer based system, which essentially means we can’t afford to pay. We can, however, compensate with trade show access, press and media events, as well as gadget reviews.
We’re looking for the all around geek, who has an interest and background in technology and writing, and lives around technology and gadgets.
We’re also looking for games editors and automotive editors, as we’re expanding into the auto/autotech world. The same goes for this category, in that we’re looking for dedicated, knowledgeable writers, who have interests in these fields. For the automotives section, we will be setting up access to car previews and events, and for gaming, we can provide access to press events, games previews, reviews, and trade events. Again, it’s a volunteer position, so we currently can’t offer payment in cash form.
We don’t have many requirements (First one: Unfortunately, we can’t hire anyone under 18), but the ones we do have are just to ensure that you’re right for the job:
- Interest in technology/automotives/gaming
- Proficiency in English and writing
- Background in either: technology (knowledge of phones, computers, technology, latest information, etc)/gaming (game consoles, latest games, games news, knowledge of game engines, companies, etc)/auto (engines, models and brands, general and advanced automotive and automotive technology information)
- Has a computer
- Able to crunch articles
- Camera
- Able to regularly keep contact
- Optional: Transport (For events)
Positions open are:
- Field Editor
- News Editor
- Weekend Editor
- Reviews Editor
- Columnist
- Automotives Editor
- Games Editor
All positions hold different responsibilities, with some including the same as others (able to review, attend events, etc.)
